The chapel was built at the municipal hospital in the early 15th century. Surviving parts are the groin-vaulted Gothic presbytery with buttresses. The Gothic hospital was pulled down after being probably damaged by an explosion in a nearby armoury in 1695, and was replaced by a High Baroque structure, now the still preserved back-wing ground floor. During restoration after a 1849 fire, the front of the chapel was united by a façade influenced by eclectic historicism. The dilapidated building was extensively renovated in the 1990s and became part of the municipal health centre.

The gothic presbytery with its cross vaulting and external support pillars has been preserved.
