House At the Lamb - burgher house

Krajinská 225/35
České Budějovice, 370 01

The present-day building was originally formed by two houses on medieval plots linked probably at the turn of the 18th and 19th century, with surviving Renaissance structures. After a modern reconstruction the house serves the TAM-TAM Civic Association, and is used for exhibitions and other cultural events.

The house At the Lamb, with the typical house sign - the statue of a lamb on the façade, is a valuable example of a historic burgher house, which represents the original architecture in Krajinská Street. The house features structures and adaptations from the periods of the Renaissance, Baroque, and the early 19th century. Typically of a burgher house, the interior layout reflects the need to combine the parts for living, the operation of a trade, and the essential service sections of the whole house in a single well-connected and organised space.
